Brexit: EU agrees to delay until October 2019

Last week the EU leaders have agreed to an extension of Brexit until the end of October 2019, hopefully enabling the UK to come to a consensus on the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement.

The extension is a flexible one,  meaning the UK may leave earlier if the terms are agreed before October.

However, the UK must now hold the elections to the European Parliament and if it fails to do so, must leave the EU by June 1st 2019.

The situation for British nationals living in the European Union remains unchanged with this extension.

The Dutch government has already taken steps to ensure Brits living and working in the Netherlands can remain doing so disregarding the outcome of any negotiations. For more information on this, please visit the website of the Immigration department under https://ind.nl/en/Pages/Brexit.aspx
